EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation

As the field of mediation continues to evolve, the EU plays a leading role in promoting innovative approaches and facilitating knowledge-sharing and learning opportunities among practitioners.

Organised annually since 2019, the EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation (CoP) has become a flagship EU event that convenes hundreds of international actors, policymakers, mediation practitioners, experts, and representatives of civil society from around the globe.

The EU Community of Practice is a unique space for exchange on peace mediation — particularly vital considering today’s global challenges. By convening hundreds of practitioners from across the globe, it enables critical discussions on emerging challenges and best practices for advancing mediation. These insights directly inform EU policies and practices. The CoP stimulates peer learning, expands the global peacebuilding community, and inspires creative thinking.

The EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation is organised by the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) with the EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation Steering Group.

This year’s edition

The 8th edition of COP will be organised on 20-21 October 2026 in Brussels, under the theme “Peace Mediation in the Age of Power Politics”.

A call for session proposals will be soon shared on this website.
