New Study Highlights EU's Vital Economic Impact in All U.S. States

The EU's economic impact on U.S. States

A new study released by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States shows the European Union is by far the single biggest foreign investor in the United States, standing at $2.37 trillion. The EU's single market is the number one export destination for the United States, with American companies exporting more than $528 billion in goods and services to the EU Member States in 2017. This unprecedented trade and investment relationship generates nearly 7 million jobs for American workers. The EU and the U.S. enjoy a balanced trade relationship to the benefit of us both.

An online interactive data tool lets users explore the depth and breadth of the EU's economic footprint in the United States further, and it showcases how vitally important EU trade and investment is for the economy of each and every U.S. state. Users can download infographics for each U.S. state, with data on the level of goods and services exports to the EU, the level of EU investments, the number of jobs created thanks to EU trade and investment, and the revenues from EU visitors in the state. The website also provides information on a sample of European companies with foreign direct investments in each state.
