Director and Head of Service of Foreign Policy Instruments travels to Mozambique

Director and Head of Service of Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), Peter M. Wagner, has started today a visit to Mozambique and will stay until 9 September.

Mozambique and the EU

This is his first visit to Mozambique in his capacity as FPI Head of Service, since he took office in July 2022.

Peter M. Wagner will participate in meetings and events organised by the Mozambican authorities, implementing actors and partners of projects and actions funded by the European Peace Facility (EPF) and the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI)-Global Europe, Crisis response pillar.

On 9 September, Peter M. Wagner will accompany the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission (HRVP), Josep Borrell, in meetings with the Mozambican authorities.

The EU is supporting Mozambique with crisis response and conflict prevention actions for an amount of EUR 16 million. They aim at restoring stability and peace in Cabo Delgado and surrounding provinces. In this area, the EU is working on peacebuilding, including in respect to natural resources related conflicts, mediation, and actions to prevent and counter violent extremism and support the rule of law.
