Have your say on the review of EU ‘Anti-Torture’ Regulation

As part of the ongoing review of the EU Regulation 2019/125 the European Commission is carrying out a public consultation.

The EU Regulation 2019/125 prohibits exports and imports of goods that have no practical use other than for the purpose of capital punishment or for the purpose of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. It also makes exports of goods that could be used for capital punishment, for torture or for cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, subject to a prior export authorisation issued by the competent authorities of the EU Member States.

We invite representatives of civil society (NGOs, specialised policy organisations, think tanks), university and/or academic institutions, international organisations, government/public administrations, as well as economic operators relevant to the trade in goods covered by the Regulation to express their views on the Regulation, including on the scope of prohibited and/or regulated goods and/or its procedural provisions.

You can contribute to this consultation by filling in the online questionnaire. The deadline for the submission of your contributions to the consultation is 13 May 2020.
