The II EU Council simulation in Brazil, awarded the best negotiators certificate to the students of the Ceará Federal University (North East).

The initiative, financed by the PI instrument, represented another effort of the EU Brazil Delegation public diplomacy project to engage with Brazil youth on EU negotiation mechanisms and multilateralism.

After one day and a half of difficult negotiations more than 40 students of all over Brazil reached an agreement to start a negotiation for a FTA agreement with the fictitious country of "Tradeland".

Ambassador Ignacio Ybañez conferred the price to the winners, a travel to Brussels to discover the EU institutions and the European culture. The Ambassador in his speech underlined the importance of rule based trade and EU values within FTA. By the same token, he stressed the significance of our "Trade for all" policy and the importance of learning how EU FTA are negotiated in the recent context of the approval of the EU Mercosur agreement.

The students and the professors participated enthusiastically to the event and the Delegation will look forward for the III edition in 2020.

Before the beginning of the simulation the EU also presented the options available through Erasmus+ for students and Jean Monnet for professors.
