On 5 July 2022, 150 metal detectors procured thanks to EPF support were delivered to the AFBiH. This is the first batch of military demining equipment as part of EPF assistance measure agreed last November by the Council of the EU. With a total amount of €10 million, the EPF will also ensure the supply of transportation vehicles and ambulances with the overall objective of strengthening the AFBiH’s capacities.

The handover took place at Camp Rajlovac (Sarajevo), where the AFBiH’s Demining Battalion is located, as part of an official visit of Political and Security Committee Ambassadors of EU Member States and the European Military Committee, and in the presence of the Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić, the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Johann Sattler. On behalf of the Administrator for assistance measures, FPI representatives were present to mark this milestone just over one year after the establishment of the EPF.

The fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and EUFOR Althea, as well as the collaboration with the European External Action Service allowed the swift implementation of the assistance measure and handover of the demining equipment.
