EU-Jordan: The European Peace Facility strengthens military medical capabilities of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)

This week marked the conclusion of a series of training courses for the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) that included setting up a fully equipped mobile field hospital to provide first aid and immediate lifesaving measures for injured soldiers.

In addition, the ambulances that the EU provided to the JAF are fully equipped and will increase the number of medical evacuations performed by the JAF.

The field hospital, equipment and training courses have been financed by the European Peace Facility (EPF).

This assistance measure adopted by the EU Council on 20 February 2023 is worth EUR 7 million and aims at boosting the capacities of the JAF ensure the national security and stability of Jordan. This will be achieved through strengthening the JAF’s military medical services, engineering brigades and operational units in charge of securing its borders.

The assistance measure also provided to the JAF construction machinery such as excavators, rollers, wheel loaders, and dozers. Together with the necessary training, this equipment will ensure that engineering field units are equipped to better support troops deployed, particularly along the borders.

Further equipment under this EPF assistance measure will be delivered to the Jordanian Armed Forces until spring 2025.
