On 10 May 2016, the European Commission adopted the 2016 Annual Action Programme (AAP) for the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace – Conflict prevention, peace-building and crisis preparedness component (Article 4).
The 2016 AAP aims to build and strengthen the capacity of the EU and its partners to prevent conflict, build peace and address pre and post-crisis needs. It encompasses seven actions: 1) in-country capacity building of civil society actors in conflict prevention and peace-building; 2) support to the Civil Society Dialogue Network on conflict prevention and peace-building; 3) training for crisis management and stabilisation-type missions through the "Europe’s New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management"; 4) support to third parties involved in peace and mediation processes through the "European Resources for Mediation Support (ERMES) II'; 5) the promotion of responsible mineral supply chains in conflict-affected and high-risk areas; 6) the provision of expertise to support security sector governance and reform; 7) capacity building for Post Disaster Needs Assessment and recovery preparedness.
