
Last 12 September, the EU Delegation to Brazil, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry and the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) organised the launch of the publication" The European Union and its foreign policy" ("A União Europeia e a sua Política Exterior "in Portuguese). The book, written by Professor Olivier Costa of the was commissioned by the EU Delegation to Brazil, financed by the FPI project on public diplomacy and published in cooperation with the Brazilian Foreign Ministry.
Ambassador of the EU in Brazil, João Gomes Cravinho, in presenting the book, outlined the current aspects of EU's foreign policy, including the importance of the EU Global Strategy. The book launch was also attended by Bruna Furlan, President of the Commission of International Relations and the National Defense) of the Lower Chamber of Brazilian Congress, who stated that "the European Union was one of the most successful examples of integration and that Mercosur has a lot to learn from the EU in this process".
The President of FUNAG Ambassador Sergio Moreira Lima emphasized that the book is a true guide through the structures, methods of functioning and challenges that the EU faces nowadays. An interesting academic debate on the EU and its role in today's world followed.
Over 100 guests, including from the diplomatic and the academic communities, took the opportunity to attend the event.
