Stepping up the medical and logistical support capabilities of EU partner countries through the European Peace Facility

The European Peace Facility (EPF) has significantly bolstered the European Union's role in conflict prevention and international security since its inception under Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/509.

The EPF plays a critical role in financing the EU’s external actions with military and defence implications, particularly in strengthening the capacity of the EU’s partners to manage crises and conflicts in the EU Neighbourhood and Africa.

Since 2021, the EPF has financed actions benefiting partner countries and regional organisations to address their defence and security challenges. These actions have been instrumental in developing key military capabilities of the supported armed forces in the medical, mobility and logistical areas. Notable contributions include the provision of deployable medical facilities, vehicles, protective equipment for soldiers, as well as reconnaissance and communication systems.

Looking ahead, the EPF aims to further enhance its readiness to procure essential equipment for EU partners. In this context, the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), acting as the EPF administrator for assistance measures, will conduct a preliminary market consultation to inform future procurement.

We encourage the companies and organisations in the medical, mobility and logistics sectors to participate in this market consultation. For more information, please refer to the detailed Prior information notice on the Official Journal of the EU dedicated tender portal under reference number 311861-2024.
