In 2025, FPI launched a Global Mine Action Governance and Innovation Facility to strengthen national mine action authorities and promote innovation worldwide. The Facility has two complementary components:
- Global Governance
Strengthens national mine action authorities through targeted capacity-building, strategic planning, expert deployment and tailored advice, supporting more effective and sustainable national mine action programmes.
- Innovation & Finance
Promotes research, testing and innovation of mine action tools and approaches through the Mine Action Innovation Hub, a global network convened by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), while developing and piloting innovative financing mechanisms through the Innovative Finance Secretariat to mobilise sustainable, large-scale funding.
Together, these efforts strengthen national mine action capacity and help make humanitarian demining faster, safer and more cost-effective, while leveraging Ukraine’s growing role as a platform for mine action innovation to benefit partners worldwide.
