The EU CASSIA project, implemented by UNDP and the Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise (CHDE), is making a significant contribution to mine action in Armenia by strengthening national capacities through the National Mine Action Coordination Platform, introducing gender-responsive tools, supporting the Mine Action Innovation Lab and providing demining equipment: for the first time, two automated and remote-controlled demining machines are now available in Armenia. EU CASSIA is also supporting the professional development of national deminers and operational standards. As a result of these efforts, since March 2025, EU CASSIA has released 317,444 m² of contaminated land – equivalent to 44 football pitches – thereby improving the safety and socio-economic conditions of over 107,000 people.
