The PARSANTE project is an initiative funded by the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace and implemented by Expertise France. It aims to build health service capacity of the Malian Armed Forces in the Mopti region. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic making its way into West Africa, the project team launched activities specifically to prevent the spread of the virus in war-affected areas of central Mali with the involvement of the Armed Forces.
The project has focused on both the awareness as well as the equipment aspects of tackling the health crisis in a region where healthcare services are scarce. The PARSANTE project printed more than a hundred posters explaining the precautions people should take to limit viral spread. Moreover, with the help of the Malian Armed Forces an awareness campaign was launched, advising people on proper preventative measures. Additionally, under the project more than EUR 35 000 worth of healthcare items such as hydroalcoholic solutions, soap, infrared thermometers, masks and gloves have been provided to the region.
