Release of report on environmental crime

Peter M. Wagner, Head of the Foreign Policy Instruments Service of the European Commission, participated in the release of the report “An analytic review of past responses to environmental crime and programming recommendations for future action".

An analytic review of past responses to environmental crime and programming recommendations for future action

The report, prepared by the Global Initiative on Transnational Organised Crime, analyses how European Union (EU) support can have the greatest impact disrupting illicit flows, stopping or diverting actors operating outside or on the margins of legal and regulatory frameworks, and reducing the overlapping harms associated with environmental crime. It aims at contributing to a broader debate, as well as to shape current and emerging responses to environmental crime.

The release of the report brought together experts from the EU and panelists with experience of governmental and civil society responses from Latin America and Africa to debate the findings and policy recommendations.
